That’s a big, big idea, one that you could devote an entire season arc to if The Simpsons were that kind of show. With ‘Twisted World of Marge Simpson’, we get a glimpse into a constant theme of The Simpsons, which is Marge’s squandered potential. With ‘Homer’s Phobia’, it’s obvious that the big lesson here is prejudice and homophobia. You see a lot of deep dives into what makes these characters tick, what their inner monologues may be and how they’re tested. You’ve got a lot of heavy hitters here: ‘You Only Move Twice’, ‘Homer’s Phobia’, ‘The Twisted World of Marge Simpson’. Grimes would be the first person to actively call Homer out on the dangers of his ignorance. He had free rein to leave a trail of clumsiness in his wake. Until this episode, Homer’s blissful stupidity had been largely ignored by fellow characters.
Moved by his story, Nuclear Power Plant owner Montgomery Burns hires Grimes – before instantly forgetting him and assigning him to sector 7G, where Homer works.

Featured in a news segment known as ‘Kent’s People’, Grimes is presented as an incredibly unlucky person.Ībandoned by his parents and forced into work at an early age, he remains downtrodden by society, despite tireless hard work to make something of the bad hand he has been dealt.
